M. M. Modi College Patiala contributes books for re-establishment of a burnt library
The faculty members of Multani Mal Modi College contributed 130 books for re-establishment of a library at Mysore, Karnataka which was recently burnt by some miscreants. According to a news feature published in the newspaper ‘The Hindu’, this library was set-up by Syed Issaq, a 62 years old daily wage earner and a labourer who maintained this library of 11,000 books with his hard earned money. He ran this library of different books in English, Kannada and Urdu, solely with his determination and respect for the books. He was left distraught when miscreants set fire to his library and the books were reduced to ashes. On reading this news, Ms. Deep Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Modi College, Patiala took an initiative to collect and categorize the books in different languages on various topics and to send them for rebuilding the burnt library.
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar while appreciating the efforts of the faculty members for this noble cause said that books are valuable for any civilized and democratic society and we must ensure that each and every section of the society has access to this treasure.
The books were packed as a beautiful parcel and were delivered to its destination as part of the campaign run by Prof. Muzaffar Assadi, Chairman, Department of Political Science, Mysore University, Karnataka.

ਮੈਸੂਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦੀ ਮੁੜ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਲਈ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਮ ਐਮ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ
ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮਾਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਰਨਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਮੈਸੂਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਇਕ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦੀ ਮੁੜ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਲਈ 130 ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਦਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ, ਜੋ ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਕੁਝ ਬਦਮਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਅਖਬਾਰ ‘ਦਿ ਹਿੰਦੂ’ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਇਕ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ,ਸੈਯਦ ਇਸਕਾਕ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਇਹ 62 ਸਾਲਾ ਦਿਹਾੜੀਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਨਾਲ 11,000 ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲਿਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ, ਕੰਨੜ ਅਤੇ ਉਰਦੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖੋ ਵੱਖਰੀਆਂ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਇਰਾਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਾਇਆ। ਬਦਮਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਜਲ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ। ਇਸ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਿਆਂ, ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਦੀਪ ਪ੍ਰਿਆ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀਬੱਧ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜੀ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਣ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਲਈ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਸਭਿਅਕ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਲਈ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੁਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਵਰਗ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੋਵੇ।
ਅੱਜ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਪਾਰਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਇਸਦੀ ਮੰਜ਼ਿਲ ਵੱਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਕਰਨਾਟਕ ਦੀ ਮੈਸੂਰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਮੁਜ਼ੱਫਰ ਅਸਦੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਚਲਾਈ ਗਈ ਇਸ ਲਾਈਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਭੇਟ ਹੈ।
