Literary discussion at Modi College on Punjab Day
The Post –Graduate department of Punjabi in collaboration with Sahit Sabha of the college today organized an On-line literary discussion in continuation of One-week celebrations as per guidelines of government of Punjab and dedicated to the ‘Punjabi Diwas’. This programme was focused at providing a platform for the students to explore and engage with contemporary Punjabi literature and its emerging themes. This event was chaired by alumni of the college and station director (Ex) All India Radio, Patiala and renowned journalist/ writer Sh.Amarjit Singh Waraich.
College principle Dr. Khushvinder Kumar ji while welcoming the main speaker said that literature is an complex medium to reflect the social and political realities and issues of any region or community. He also motivated the students to initiate a dialogue with the writers and thinkers through books to understand our society and world better. Dr. Gurdeep Singh , Head of Punjabi department discussed the importance of literary discussions and programmes and said that such programmes are instrumental in nurture the literary and creative potential and possibilities of the future generations. Dr. Devinder singh, assistant professor, Punjabi department formally introduced Sh.Amarjit Singh Waraich and told that he utilized the medium of radio and print for providing information and knowledge about various developmental activities and growth process of Punjabi community. In the event many students of the college presented their literary works and poetry on the conflicts and dilemma of our times.
Sh.Amarjit Singh Waraich while addressing the students remembered his days spent at the college and said that Modi College played a significant role in my literary and creative growth .He advised the students to engage with different literary forms and communication mediums to develop as responsible citizens. The stage was conducted by Dr. Devinder Singh, Assistant professor, Punjabi department. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Manjit Kaur, Associate Professor, Punjabi department. The programme was technically managed by Dr. Rohit Sechdeva. Large number of students and faculty members participated in this event.

ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ-ਦਿਵਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਆਨ-ਲਾਈਨ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ
ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਪੋਸਟ-ਗੈਰਜੂਏਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ-ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ‘ਪੰਜਾਬ-ਦਿਵਸ’ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਉਲੀਕੇ ਗਏ ਇੱਕ ਹਫਤਾ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਆਨ-ਲਾਈਨ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।ਇਸ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸ. ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੜੈਚ, ਸਾਬਕਾ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ, ਅਕਾਸ਼ਵਾਣੀ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮਵਰ ਕਵੀ/ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀ।ਇਸ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖੀਆ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਬਰੂ ਹੋ ਸਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਿਕ ਤੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਾਤਮਿਕ ਰੁਚੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲਿਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ।
ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਬਹੁ-ਪਰਤੀ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸੱਚਾਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਖਿੱਤੇ ਤੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਰਾਹੀ ਲੇਖਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਣ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਮਾਜ ਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ, ਮੁਖੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਹਤੱਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਅਗਲੀਆਂ ਨਸਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਤੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਾਤਮਿਕ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲਿਤ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਅਤ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਪੱਖੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਲਈ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਐਂਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਡਾ.ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਰਸਮੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸ. ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੜੈਚ ਦੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਤੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਰੇਡੀੳ ਤੇ ਅਖਬਾਰਾਂ ਰਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਤੇ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਚੱਜੇ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ। ਇਸ ਗੋਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਚਲੰਤ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ।
ਸ. ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੜੈਚ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਤਾਏ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਹੀ ਸੇਧ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਿਹਾ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇੱਥੇ ਪੜਣ੍ਹ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਤੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਾਤਮਿਕ ਰੁਚੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਾਰੂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਮਿਲੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਖੋ-ਵੱਖਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਧਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਜਨ-ਸੰਚਾਰ ਮਾਧਿਅਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਚੰਗੇ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਬਣ ਸਕਣ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਕਵਿਤਾਵਾਂ ਵੀ ਸਾਂਝੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਸਟੇਜ-ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਡਾ.ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਐਂਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਨੇ ਨਿਭਾਈ। ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਡਾ. ਮਨਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ-ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਡਾ. ਰੋਹਿਤ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ ਨੇ ਨਿਭਾਈ। ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
