World Forest Day and Save Water Day celebrated in Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala
World Forest Day was celebrated by NCC Army Wing Cadets in Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today under the instructions of Colonel Harjinder SIngh, Commanding Officer, 5, Punjab Battalion NCC (Patiala). College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar initiated the tree plantation drive. Addressing the students, he expressed grave concern regarding the issue of large scale deforestation and misuse of water. He appealed to all the students to plant a sapling on their respective birthdays. In addition to NCC Officer Captain Ved Prakash Sharma, Prof. Poonam Malhotra, Prof. Sharwan Kumar, Prof. Jasvir Kaur, Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Dr. Neeraj Goyal, Prof. Sumeet Kumar, Dr. Varun Jain, Prof. Amit Sareen, Prof. Nishan Singh and Sh. Ajay Gupta were also present.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ 5, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਬਟਾਲੀਅਨ ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਕਮਾਂਡਿੰਗ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਕਰਨਲ ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਆਰਮੀ ਵਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਲੜਕਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਣ ਉਤਸਵ ਮਨਾਇਆ। ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਪੌਦੇ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦਾ ਆਗਾਜ਼ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਕੈਡਿਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਅੱਜ ਬੜੀ ਬੇਰਹਿਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਟਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਦੁਰਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਪੀੜੀਆ ਪੀਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਤਰਸਣਗੀਆਂ। ਫਿਰ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਅਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਹਰੇਕ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਨਮ ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਬੂਟਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਲਾਵੇ। ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਵੇਦ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਪੂਨਮ ਮਲਹੋਤਰਾ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸ਼ਰਵਨ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜਸਵੀਰ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ. ਅਸ਼ਵਨੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡਾ. ਨੀਰਜ ਗੋਇਲ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸੁਮੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਡਾ. ਵਰੁਨ ਜੈਨ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਅਮਿਤ ਸਰੀਨ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਜੇ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
