Virtual awareness on harmful effects of TOBACCO
 
NSS Department of M M Modi College, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, observed WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY today. Its main objective of this virtual awareness drive was to spread awareness on the hazards of smoking and the harmful effects of chewing tobacco. This year, the theme is the protection of younger generations, focusing on “Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use”. It is of utmost importance to spread this word amongst the youth as the tobacco industry is increasingly targeting young people as an emerging and vulnerable market for its addictive products. Students were made aware of the fact that more than 8 million people die as a result of tobacco use every year, and the use of tobacco causes fatal lung diseases and other respiratory disorders Tobacco consumption leads to oral and lung cancers. Notably, oral cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers in India.
Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar stated that the NSS Department of the college has been leaving no stone unturned to guide the youth of the college and has been making every effort to keep the students motivated during these challenging times.
