Modi College wins Punjabi University Inter-College Boxing (Women) Championship
The Boxing (Women) team of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today won overall two day Inter-College Punjabi University Boxing Championship. The championship was inaugurated by Sh. Harpreet Singh Hundal, District Sports Officer, Patiala. College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar presided over the concluding ceremony. He congratulated the winning team and the coaches and said that sports are crucial for development of responsible and disciplined citizens with rich cultural and ethical values.
Dr. Gurdeep Singh Sandhu, Dean Sports shared that 47 boxers from 17 teams of various colleges participated in this two day Boxing Championship. Modi College got 20 points and stood first while Akal Degree College, Mastuana Sahib stood second within 11 points.
Dr. Nishan Singh, Head of Sports Department said that our boxers Kajal, Mandeep Kaur and Pooja won Gold Medals in their specific categories. Boxer Priyanka won Silver Medal while boxer Priyanka Sharma and Shilpa Rani got bronze medals.
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar congratulated the sports department and appreciated the efforts of NIS coach Sh. Tarsem lal Gupta, Sh. Jaswant Singh, Punjabi University, Patiala and the role of observer cum boxing coach Renu Bala. He also appreciated the guidance and hard-work put in by Dr. Nishan Singh, Prof. Harneet Singh and Prof. Mandeep Kaur.

ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਅੰਤਰ-ਕਾਲਜ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ (ਲੜਕੀਆਂ) ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ ਜਿੱਤੀ
ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਦੋ ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਅੰਤਰ-ਕਾਲਜ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ (ਲੜਕੀਆਂ) ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ ਅੱਜ ਸੰਪਨ ਹੋਈ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਜਬਾਨ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਿਡਾਰਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾੜਦਿਆਂ ਓਵਰ-ਆਲ ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਯੋਗਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਖੇਡ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸ. ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਹੁੰਦਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਅਵਸਰ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਯੋਗਿਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਖਿਡਾਰਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਦੀ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਮੁੱਲੇ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਧ ਰਹੀ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ ਦੇ ਬਦਲ ਵਜੋਂ ਨਵੀਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਯੋਗਿਤਾ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਡੀਨ (ਸਪੋਰਟਸ) ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੋ ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਾਲਜਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ 17 ਟੀਮਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ 47 ਬਾਕਸਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ। ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਿਡਾਰਣਾਂ ਨੇ 20 ਅੰਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੇ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਕਾਲ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਮਸਤੁਆਨਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਿਡਾਰਣਾਂ ਨੇ 11 ਅੰਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਦੂਸਰਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਖੇਡ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਿਡਾਰਣਾਂ ਕਾਜਲ, ਮਨਦੀਪ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਜਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪਣੇ ਵਰਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੋਲਡ ਮੈਡਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੇ। ਬਾਕਸਰ ਪ੍ਰਿਅੰਕਾ ਨੇ ਸਿਲਵਰ ਮੈਡਲ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕਸਰ ਪ੍ਰਿਅੰਕਾ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਲਪਾ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਕਾਂਸੀ ਦੇ ਤਗਮੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੇ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜੇਤੂ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾਰਕਬਾਦ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਯੋਗਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਫ਼ਲਤਾਪੂਰਵਕ ਨੇਪਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਨ ਲਈ ਐਨ.ਆਈ.ਐਸ. ਕੋਚ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਤਰਸੇਮ ਲਾਲ ਗੁਪਤਾ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਕੋਚ ਸ. ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਜਰਵਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਅਹਿਮ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੀ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਕੋਚ ਮਿਸ ਰੇਨੂ ਬਾਲਾ ਦਾ ਉਚੇਚੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਖੇਡ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਡਾ. ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸਿੰਘ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਹਰਨੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਡਮ ਮਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਯੋਗ ਅਗੁਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
